PrescribeIT^®

PrescribeIT^® has supported e-prescribing in Canada since 2018, helping establish strong technical readiness across pharmacies and clinical systems. However, national adoption of a centrally operated service has not reached the level required for long-term sustainability.
 
Following extensive collaboration with governments and health system partners, an open-standards approach has been established as the future pathway for e-prescribing in Canada. As part of this transition, the PrescribeIT^® service will conclude on May 29, 2026, at 11:59 PM EST.
 
PrescribeIT^® will continue to operate as planned while transition activities are carried out, and the national e-prescribing standard will be made publicly available to support continued progress aligned with local priorities. The conclusion of the PrescribeIT^® service will be managed carefully, and Infoway remains committed to supporting the ongoing advancement of digital prescribing within Canada’s broader digital health ecosystem.
