Including Vendor Input in the Process

Having vendors at the table and engaging them meaningfully is essential to achieving the objectives of the Shared Pan-Canadian Interoperability Roadmap. Early and consistent vendor involvement will help vendors enhance their solutions once efficiently and avoid rework caused by inconsistent requirements and standards across the country.

Engaging Industry

We will ensure early and frequent engagement with industry by creating inclusive processes and formal mechanisms to:

  • Incorporate vendor input in defining priorities and timelines that are practical and feasible.
  • Foster cooperation, participation, and consultation in designing clinically relevant and value-based solution enhancements that vendors can implement in stages.
  • Enable vendors to plan, budget, and allocate resources effectively to adopt Pan-Canadian data and exchange standards and complete compliance testing before deployment.

Mobilizing the industry to support digital health modernization programs will require a balanced combination of regulatory measures (e.g., prohibiting information blocking), economic incentives, and meaningful industry engagement. Stimulating vendors to implement capabilities that meet interoperability and program requirements will be essential to achieving program objectives and benefits.
